What Made #Bordnetzkongress 2026 a Must-Attend Event
The 14th International Conference once again confirmed why Bordnetzkongress remains one of the key meeting points for the global wire harness and EDS community. Over two highly technical and forward-looking conference days in Ludwigsburg, OEMs, suppliers, technology providers and research experts discussed the future of automotive electrical architectures in the era of software-defined vehicles.
Day one focused on innovation across the entire wiring harness ecosystem, from scalable connector systems and modular architectures to sustainability strategies and automated manufacturing concepts. Presentations from Volkswagen, Audi, Bosch, Sumitomo Electric Bordnetze, Yazaki, Komax, TE Connectivity and many others highlighted how the industry is addressing increasing complexity, rising automation demands and the transition toward digitalized development and production environments.
A major highlight was the presentation of the Next2OEM project, demonstrating a fully integrated approach to digitized and automated wiring harness production and vehicle assembly. Discussions throughout the day emphasized the growing importance of Design for Automation, data continuity, AI-supported manufacturing and collaborative development across the value chain.
The second conference day shifted the spotlight toward next-generation energy distribution and SDV-ready architectures. Sessions explored scalable electronic power distribution, HV/LV powernet concepts, liquid-cooled HV harness systems, functional safety, virtual validation and advanced material solutions for future electrical systems. Experts from BMW, DRÄXLMAIER, EDAG, Volkswagen, Fraunhofer IIS, Vector, Ford Otosan and many more provided valuable insights into the technological foundations of future vehicle architectures.
Across both days, Bordnetzkongress 2026 once again combined technical depth, strategic relevance and open industry exchange. The conference demonstrated how strongly the sector is evolving through automation, digitalization, sustainability and cross-industry collaboration.
